Hate Story is an erotic thriller produced by Vikram Bhatt and directed by Vivek Agnihotri. Bengali actress Paoli Dam plays the lead role in Hate Story. Nikhil Dwivedi and Gulshan Devaiah play important supporting roles in the film.

The story of Hate Story revolves around a woman's vengeance and how she uses her sexuality as a weapon. The film had created a lot of curiosity when it's first look, featuring the bare back of a mystery girl, was unleashed. The mystery girl was then revealed to be Paoli Dam, the lead actress of Hate Story.

Hate Story marks the Bollywood debut of Paoli Dam, who started her acting career with the Bengali film Agnipariksha in 2006 and became popular with the film Kaalbela. She created a lot of controversy with the explicit scene, depicting full frontal nudity, in the 2011 movie Chatrak.
